Current Projects

The following efforts are currently underway with the IPDA. These links are password-protected. If you’d like to learn more about these projects, please contact us.

PDS4 Implementation Project

The purpose of this project is to capture recommendations and requirements based on the preparation and implementation of PDS4 by authorities/institutions outside NASA. More information available on the IPDA Wiki.

Data Access Protocols

The purpose of this project is to capture recommendations and requirements for consistent, interoperable Data Access Protocols across all IPDA organizations, including the PDS Search API, EPN-TAP, and PDAP. More information available on the IPDA wiki.

Registration and Search

The PDS4 project has developed a registration and search infrastructure to enable cross-agency search of planetary data. This infrastructure is currently deployed at the PDS Engineering Node (http://pds.nasa.gov) and provides catalog-level search across PDS3 data sets and PDS4 bundles for both NASA PDS and ESA PSA archival data. This project will continue to extend the implementation and deployment of this infrastructure to ensure the search services can be populated and utilized by other IPDA-member agencies (e.g., ISRO Chandryaan-1 data). This project builds on the results from the previous IPDA-sponsored registry projects.. More information available on the IPDA wiki.

Data Object Identifiers (DOIs) and Data Citation

This project is intended to setup guidelines to support implementation and management of Data Object Identifiers (DOIs) on research objects within the IPDA context.. More information available on the IPDA wiki.

IVOA-IPDA Interactions

The IVOA/IPDA interactions project is dedicated to reinforcing the interoperability between the IVOA and IPDA infrastructures. Details on the scope and the proposed actions are presented in IPDA-IVOA Interactions document. More information available on the IPDA wiki.

IPDA Agency Outreach and Engagements

The number of national space agencies entering the planetary science community and generating new data from missions or other research is growing. The IPDA endeavors to identify and reach out to these agencies with the goal of welcoming them as members of the IPDA community. The goal for this project is to outline the steps that lead to new agency membership within the IPDA. More information available on the IPDA wiki.
